What is a zygomatic implant you might think? Well, let us answer that.

Zygomatic implants are a surgical and prosthetic solution for both two-stage dental implants (conventional) and immediate loading of dental implants.

However, recent research and practices usually use the approach of zygomatic implants in the immediate loading of dental implant protocols.

The primary indication for zygomatic implants is a severely resorbed, shrunken and thinned out upper jaw mostly when all teeth are missing (a case of edentulous maxilla). This doesn't mean that they cannot be used in cases of single or multiple teeth loss cases (partially edentulous).

Sinus lift procedures can be invasive and also expensive. Zygomatic implants are the alternative in cases where sinus lift procedure is indicated. It can also be used in failed sinus lift augmentation, failure of bone grafts, in cases of tumors resections, after cancer surgery and trauma, and even in cases where conventional implant therapy has failed to achieve desired results.
